The Job Corps is a fantastic resource for youth and young adults and, if you have foster care experience, you are automatically eligible for the program! The Job Corps Center exists to help youth between the ages of 16-24 improve the quality of their lives through hands-on technical and academic training.
The Center is located just over an hour from Columbia, SC, in scenic Bamberg. There are a wealth of available options for those seeking academic support and career training including GED certification, Culinary Arts, and Computer Technician training, among other great options. In addition, youth receive free academic tutoring, free meals, free medical care, free room and board, and a living stipend while they are in the program. Graduates of the program can take advantage of Job Corps’ job placement assistance and even relocation support if your new job takes you to another city. Lastly, the campus boasts some impressive extra-curricular opportunities including one of the best basketball facilities in the country!
